Day 9 to 11 – 21/4/2017 to 23/4/2017 – Gilgandra, Goondwindi, Home
It was a slow start to the morning. I think we were trying to deny the inevitable of starting to head for home. As we were leaving town we went for a drive through the main street of Tumut.

The next stop was a small town Jugiong which was recommended to us by a friend. It had a great coffee shop and pub. Even the camp ground didn’t look too bad, so we noted it for future reference.

After smoko it was time to stop the delaying tactics and just put the foot down and head for home. The next town was the twin town of Harden-Murrumburrah

Followed by the town of Wombat. It only consisted of a few buildings.

It was a long haul to Gilgandra and we arrived late afternoon. The campground/van park was right beside the highway but we were so tired that we didn’t even notice any traffic noise that night.
After a good night’s sleep, we were on the familiar road to Goondwindi, which was another big day.
From Goondwindi we decided to take a route through Millmerran to Dalby. We hadn’t been through this town before and we also wanted to see what the road was like as an alternative for the stretch between Dalby and Goondwindi.
From there it was a quick lunch at Kumbia with reality setting in that the trip was all but over with the final push to home.
Some stats for the trip:
- Total km - 3,861
- Total fuel – 634.19 litres
- Litres per 100 km – 16.4
