Well today was the first day of the big
trip. We had an early start and were on the road by 9am after
finishing off a few last minute jobs. Because we have a bit more
time with this trip, we don't have to push as far or fast per day.
We made the first stop, Kumbia, a
little place south of Kingaroy and pretty much at the base of the
Bunya Mountains. Even early in the afternoon you could feel the cool air coming down from the mountains.
We arrived at about 1:30pm. By arriving early it
allowed us to get a place in the free camp. There was only about 4
other people here when we arrived but the place soon filled up.
Another 5 groups arrived after us. Some even turning up at about
5:30pm and just squeezing in.

Arriving at this time also gave me
enough time to get in and finish the blog posts off that I hadn't
finished for the previous trip.
With this trip I will try and keep the
blog updated as much as possible. It will largely depend on where
and when I can get internet coverage. At a minimum we will be
hitting the “Check In” button on the SPOT tracker every
afternoon. We might also send a check in message at any other
interesting points of interest along the way as well.
