Oz Trip - Day 133

Day 133 – 11/9/2012 – Denham and Monkey Mia day trip

As it was a couple of hours drive to Monkey Mia, so we set out relatively early. We stopped for smoko at Denham on the way.

On the way to Denham

We came across lots of these guys
Monkey Mia wasn't exactly what I expected. I thought it was a town but it is basically just your typical beach resort. We missed the first two dolphin feeding's and we hung around until the final feeding at 12pm but the dolphins didn't come in. We weren't too concerned as we have see and done dolphin feeding before. The wind and rain was also starting to get up.

Looking back to the jetty
Due to the weather we headed back to Denham for lunch.

On the way back to Hamelin Station we stopped off at the Hamelins Pool and the stromatolites. They are basically a living type of fossil that look like rocks. Based on the signs they are only still occur here an in the Barharmas, but we did see another sign further down the WA coast pointing to more stromatolites so they must be in a few other places as well.

On the walk to the stromatolites we saw the first snake of the trip
I think we own them a bit of thanks
The tide was in so this was the best shot I could get.
