Day
2 – 21/8/2014 – Ban Ban Springs to Roma
To get to Roma we weren't going to take the most direct route. Instead we were trying to travel on roads that we hadn't previously travelled to see some new towns. So instead of heading south towards Dalby we took a slightly longer way by going north through Gayndah and then Mundubbera and then south to Chinchilla via Jandowae.
Gayndah and Mundubbera were hit pretty hard by the 2013 flooding of the Burnett River. You just didn't hear about it as much because the focus was on Bundaberg.

Here are some comparisons to try and show the extent and force of the water that was headed towards Bundaberg.

Luckily we had pre booked the van park for the night in Roma as every van park was full. We arrived at about 4pm and even then we were the second last to arrive and there were at least another 5 campers that turned up after us that were turned away.
That night we met up with Jodies cousin and her family. They hadn't seen each other for about 20 years so it was a great catch up all round.
