Berridale Trip - Day 6

Day 6 – 18/4/2017 – Thredbo Day Trip

It was such another fantastic clear morning I couldn't help but take a few more photos from around The Farm.

One very large rock on a hill!
We couldn’t come this far south without a visit to Thredbo Village.  We decided to take more of a scenic route to Thredbo which we hadn’t travelled before. We headed to the small town of Dalgety.

Dalgety was a very scenic little town with a van park right on the Snowy River. We’ve flagged it as another place to return to.

We had a bit of a chuckle at this sign just before the bridge

Coming into Jindabyne
You couldn’t have ordered a more perfect day for visiting Thredbo. Because it was till Easter holidays it was unbelievably busy and hard to find a car park. This was due to how much the downhill mountain biking has taken off in the precinct. It is good to see that they have diversified and are not only reliant on winter activities. One day I might get game enough to try some of the downhill tracks, but we never seem to be in the region long enough to dedicate a day to it.

We caught the chair lift to Eagles Nest and had some refreshments in the café before doing a quick walk around the area. About a week or so before our arrival there was a snow dump. Unfortunately, we just missed it but we did still manage to see some remnants.

After a play in the left-over snow we headed back to the village for lunch at the Pub. It would have been quite easy to spend all afternoon on the deck of the Pub but we had to start heading home. The trip was timed perfectly because just as we were leaving the dark clouds that were building up as we were having lunch opened up. For half of the way back to Jindabyne we had the windscreen wipers on.

We stopped in at Jindabyne to pick up some dinner from Woolies and then headed home for a nice cosy night by the lounge room fire place.  Plus some more afternoon photos in the perfect light :-)
