Day 14 - 15/6/2016 - Alice Springs to Barkly Homestead
It was the first day back on the road for a while and we had a lot of kilometres to do so it was an early start.
We were pretty sure that this wasn't here on our way into Alice Springs |
This time I made sure that we had enough fuel so that we didn’t have to stop at any over priced places on this leg.
Aileron |
First stop was Barrow Creek for some smoko. We didn't stop for too long. The place just had a really strange vibe about it. It wasn't until a few weeks later I stumbled across a news article that mentioned Barrow Creek was around the area where the Peter Falconio incident took place.
We topped up with fuel at Wycliffe Well, the U.F.O. capital of Australia! The diesel was even a few cents cheaper than in Alice Springs! It must be the intergalactic customers that help to keep the prices down.
They even have alien security |
Not sure what is scarier, the hulk looking alian in the van park or the razor wire around the park |
Getting back into the vehicle we seemed to pick up a hitchhiker!
Meet Al, our trip companion |
A quick stop at the Devils Marbles again for lunch.
From there it was a pretty uneventful stint to Barkly Homestead. We arrived late in the afternoon so we decided to have dinner and a few drinks in the restaurant.
