Alice Springs & Lawn Hill Trip - Day 1

Day 1 - 2/6/2016 - Bundaberg to Springsure

We were finally setting off on a trip that was a number of years in the making and also catching up with family from all over the country.  7 years ago our first trip in the Pajero was a loop through western QLD, then across to Cairns and back down the coast to home.  At that time there were a few things that we didn’t get a chance to see and vowed that we would be back.  Well 7 years and a lot of kilometres later, we were finally going to get a few more places ticked off the bucket list.  We were also timing/planning the trip to coincide with the Finke Desert rally in Alice Springs, (which was a highlight from a trip 4 years ago), so we had a lot of kilometres to do in a small amount of time in order to meet a few deadlines.

On the road again!
So the first few days were just going to be big driving days.

Should have stopped to get the pots of gold at the ends of the rainbow
After a number of attempts from multiple trips, we finally managed to get a high speed shot of the cut out hill just outside of Bauhinia
Rolleston rest area - Make sure you keep your horse out!
For this nights stop we were staying at our usual spot, the Springsure show grounds.  We had it pretty much to ourselves.
