Day 16 - 17/6/2016 - Barkly Homestead to Cloncurry
Again another big day of driving with not a lot to look at. This time there was no police set up at the NT/QLD border so got the photos that missed on the last time through.
Welcome to Queensland! |
Welcome to the Northern Territory |
We passed one of the biggest windmills that we had ever seen.
This is one of the better free camps that we had seen along the way. We still had a way to go so it was just a comfort and leg stretch stop for us, but bookmarked it in case we ever needed to stop over night here in the future.
Not a bad looking free camp |
Once we hit Mt Isa it felt like we were almost there. It was a Friday afternoon and it was eerily quiet in the CBD. We later worked out that it was the Mt Isa show holiday, which explained why it was so quiet.
That afternoon we arrived at Jodie's aunty and uncles place again. We settled in for another party as Jodie's parents had also turned up. Jodie's uncle, Bill, fired up the massive BBQ. It was literally the size of a small trailer. It needed all 8 burners cranked up to cook the 8 or so big juicy T bones and snags. It was an absolute feast. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of us all setup on the back deck overlooking another fantastic sunset.
