Oz Trip - Day 50

Day 50 – 20/6/2012 – N'Darla Gorge and Traphena Gorge Day Trip

We set off early so that we could fit both gorges into the one day. On the way to N'Darla gorge we stopped of at the Ross River Resort. Again the word Resort was being used rather loosely but the campground look really nice.

The trip into N'Darla gorge was a very scenic 4WD track. This time Jodie was driving. It was good experience for her as there were a number of small river crossings and a little bit of soft sand and rocks.

The gorge itself wasn't that fantastic, the most interesting thing was the Aboriginal rock carvings, petroglyphs. There were lots of them all over the place.

The track into the gorge

We ended up having lunch beside the track on the way out just after a water crossing.

On the way into Traphena gorge we saw a sign for Rocky Hole which was a 4km 4WD track. We decided to give it a try. It was a very narrow and rocky track. The Rocky Hole at the end of it probably wasn't worth the effort in the end. We were just glad that we hadn't walked the 8km return to see it. It might have been nicer if there was a bit more water in it.

We finally made it to Traphena gorge.
