Day 148 – 26/9/2012 – The Nullarbor (Madura Pass to Penong)
We we on the road by 8am again and were just planning to get as far as possible. First stop was the lookout at the top of Madura Pass because we didn't stop there on the way in the previous afternoon.

Looking over the pass onto the coastal plain |
The next stop was the old telegraph station at Ecula that was slowly being engulfed by the sand dunes.
|
The RFDS (Royal Flying Docters Service) use the sections of the road as an emergency airstrip |
|
One of the biggest cuttle fish we have ever seen. |

Getting consumed by the sand dunes |
There was also an old jetty at the beach at Ecula but unfortunately we didn't have time to walk through the sand dunes down to the beach to find it.
From there it was then onto lookout number two on the Great Australian Bight to have a look at the cliffs.
We had a late lunch stop and leg stretch at the Nullarbor Roadhouse before a late afternoon arrival at the Penong Caravan park.
